YOUR MIND
The challenge with alignment
When Familiar Poses Still Leave You Guessing
Am I doing this correctly?
You may know the names of the poses and be able to follow the sequence, but how do you know that the way you are doing them is right for your body? You may be able to copy the shape of a posture quite easily, yet still wonder whether you are using the right muscles, creating unnecessary tension, or simply relying on your flexibility to get there. If you are less flexible, you may feel a great deal in the posture; if you are very flexible, you may feel almost nothing. So what is the reference point? How do you know what is actually happening in your body?
This becomes even more important when you teach. You may know the posture and the alignment cues, but understanding the principles behind them allows you to see what is happening in each individual body and know how to guide the student from there.
The challenge is not simply creating the shape. It is understanding what is happening underneath it.
The Gap in the understanding
When You Learn the Shape, But Not the Posture
01
You learn the shape or follow the instructions without fully understanding what is happening in your body.
02
Your body finds its own way to create the shape, sometimes through unnecessary tension or effort.
03
When things don't feel right and you don't understand why, you become uncertain about your practice and may eventually stop practicing.
When we don’t understand what is happening in the body, we lose the confidence to know what to adjust, when to go deeper, and when to ease off. This is what The Mastermap of Alignment is designed to change.
Introducing the program
The Mastermap of Alignment
24 Poses. One Journey from Pose to Presence.
The Mastermap of Alignment brings together 24 foundational yoga postures into one clear and practical way of understanding your body and your practice.
With 22 years of teaching experience, Deep Kumar guides you through alignment from the feet up, with the breath first—learning how the body is organised in each posture, how the joints are supported, how the muscles work, and how to recognise unnecessary effort.
Each lesson goes beyond simply learning the shape of a posture. You will understand what is happening within the body, why the posture is practised in a particular way, and how to use the breath and your own awareness as a guide.
As you learn the 24 postures and how they relate to one another, they become more than individual poses. They become a map for building a balanced, intelligent and sustainable yoga practice.
Ancient wisdom · Modern clarity · One pose at a time
Where physical precision becomes inner awareness
From Following Instructions To Reading Your Own Practice
Yoga is often learned by following instructions: place the foot here, move the knee there, lift the chest, lengthen the spine. These instructions can be useful, but they cannot account for every body, every breath, or every day.
The Mastermap teaches you to work with principles rather than depend on a fixed set of instructions. As you practise, you begin to recognise when to create more stability, when to soften, when to go deeper, and when to stop. You also learn the contraindications and considerations of each posture, so you can recognise when a posture needs to be modified, approached differently, or avoided altogether.
This gives you something more valuable than a collection of perfectly performed postures: the ability to adapt your practice to your own body.
With this approach, alignment becomes something you can apply whether you are practising alone, learning a new posture, working with a different body, or teaching someone else.
“Alignment creates the conditions in which breath, body, and attention can meet.“
The Mastermap of Alignment
One map that travels through every pose
What You Learn in a Yoga Alignment Course
A meaningful alignment course teaches principles you can carry from one shape to another, and from physical practice into quiet presence.
Build poses from the ground up through the feet, arches, legs, pelvis, spine, shoulders, neck, and gaze.
Use the breath as immediate feedback for when to stay, adjust, or step back.
Recognise the difference between productive muscular work and pressure inside a joint.
Preserve the natural curves of the spine instead of flattening or exaggerating them.
Use blocks, blankets, belts, towels, books, and walls as intelligent support.
Practice all four stages: entering, staying, leaving, and absorbing.
Follow the heart through folds, twists, and backbends so movement remains spacious.
Observe the effect of a pose without judging the body, breath, thought, or feeling.
What many practitioners miss is that alignment is not static. The right depth today may be different tomorrow. A prop is not evidence that you have failed, and a deeper shape is not evidence that you have succeeded. The true measure is whether intelligence, breath, and presence can remain together inside the pose.
Begin exactly where you are
Who The Mastermap of Alignment Is For
You do not need exceptional flexibility, a particular body shape, or years of practice. You need curiosity, a mat, and a willingness to listen,
01
Understand what is happening inside familiar poses rather than simply moving through them.
02
Bring clearer foundational cues, intelligent variations, and stronger reasoning into your guidance.
03
Build sound habits early through observation, support, and breath-led practice.
04
Discover how greater depth can come from refinement rather than more advanced shapes.
05
Rebuild your relationship with practice patiently and attentively.
06
Explore the meeting point between traditional Indian teaching and modern practical clarity.
A word for the hesitant
You Do Not Need to Be Advanced
The journey starts with Tadasana (mountain pose) because the most important foundations are already present in standing. You are never asked to force your body toward a final version. Props, bent knees, accessible variations, and breath checks are part of intelligent practice.
Six chapters · Twenty-four doorways
The Complete 24-Lesson Curriculum
The sequence moves from standing architecture through strength, surrender, backbending, witnessing, release, and deep rest. One chapter opens at a time.
The blueprint held within standing. What you discover here becomes the foundation beneath every pose that follows.

Cow face pose
Connected Through One Breath
Root through the sit bones, soften the ribs, and use a towel or belt to make the bind honest.
Utthanpadasana
Raised leg pose
Gentle Lifts, Deep Core Healing
Protect the lumbar curve, bend the knees or work one leg at a time, and use gentle strength.
Prepare to release effort consciously, so stillness becomes something you can receive rather than simply the moment movement stops.

Founder and Lead Teacher, Yoga New Vision
Meet Your Teacher,
Deep Kumar
24 Poses. One Journey from Body to Presence.
Deep Kumar came to yoga not as a career, but as a calling. Born and raised in India, he trained in some of the most prestigious academies in the country before spending two decades founding schools, teaching thousands of students, and quietly refining what he believed yoga could truly be.
Yoga New Vision is his fourth school, and his most personal. It is the one he built when he finally had the clarity to offer yoga in its purest, most embodied form.
In the shala, Deep is unlike most teachers you have encountered. He carries the curiosity of a scientist and the warmth of a dear friend. He teaches with laughter, with precision, and with a genuine delight in watching something unlock in you. Many call him the laughter yogi, and when you experience a session with him, you will understand why.
His philosophy is beautifully simple: understand your body, understand your mind, and in that understanding, you are already transformed.
“Understand your body, understand your mind, and through that understanding, transformation begins.“
Ancient wisdom, taught with modern clarity
The School Behind the Course
At Yoga New Vision, we believe wisdom has many voices. The ancient teachings of Indian yoga speak to the soul. Modern science speaks to the body. Eastern philosophy maps the inner landscape. Western psychology and research give language to what we feel, live, and pass on. When all of these are honoured fully, something beautiful happens, not a compromise, but a coming home.
This is the heart of our YNV Method: a holistic yoga teacher training approach where Eastern wisdom meets Western science, where ancient philosophy meets modern psychology, and where timeless practice is illuminated by today’s research. We hold every tradition with equal reverence, drawing on the discoveries of three extraordinary scientists to deepen what yoga has always known.
