The Challenge With Lifestyle Conditions

When a Student Brings More Than Their Body Shows

Where do I even begin?

You may know how to guide a balanced, thoughtful class. Then a student mentions their anxiety or depression, their arthritis, a lower back that has ached for years, a diabetes diagnosis, or a painful cycle, and suddenly the familiar sequence feels uncertain. Should you slow down? Should you avoid certain poses? Is yoga even the right place to start? So what is the reference point? How do you know what this person actually needs?

The same questions live in your own practice. You may notice your breath shortening under stress, your joints stiffening, your mood growing heavy, or your energy dropping after an irregular day, without knowing what these patterns are telling you. Many modern conditions begin long before they become visible in the body, shaped quietly by stress, breath, posture, food rhythm, movement, emotion, and inner belief.

The challenge is not simply knowing which pose helps which condition. It is understanding the whole person living with it.

The Gap in the understanding

When You See the Symptom, But Not the Person

01

Looking only at the painful place

The knee, the joint, or the lower back becomes the whole story, and the breath, emotion, and daily rhythm around it go unseen.

02

Practice that adds more tension

Well-meant sequences can ask too much of a system that is already anxious, inflamed, or exhausted, and the body quietly braces against the help.

03

Uncertainty about what is safe

Without knowing the red flags, it is hard to tell when to adapt, when to wait, and when to refer someone on. Confidence fades, and care becomes cautious guesswork.

When we cannot see the whole person, we lose the clarity to know what to offer, how gently to offer it, and when yoga is not yet the right first step. This is what the 20-Hour Yoga Healing Course is designed to change.

Introducing the program

The 20-Hour Yoga Healing Course

Six conditions. One whole-person map.

The 20-Hour Yoga Healing Course brings six lifestyle-related conditions into one clear and compassionate way of understanding the people who live with them: anxiety, depression, arthritis, lower back pain, diabetes, and menstrual disorders.

The condition lessons are rooted in the Pancha Koshas (the five bodies), the physical, energetic, mental, intuitive, and bliss layers of a human being. Deep introduces the yogic frameworks and embodied practices, Amiro guides practical posture application, and Anurag brings clinical anatomy and physical therapy insight.

Five lessons build your understanding of anxiety, arthritis, lower back pain, diabetes, and menstrual disorders. Then three carefully designed yoga classes help ease depression, calm anxiety, and rejuvenate your nervous system, through conscious breathing, supportive movement, spinal mobility, laughter, and inward awareness.

As you learn how these conditions connect, they become more than separate diagnoses. They become a map for offering yoga with greater sensitivity, sound judgement, and genuine care.

Ancient wisdom · Modern therapy · The whole person wisdom

WHERE YOGIC WISDOM MEETS CLINICAL UNDERSTANDING

From Treating a Condition to Seeing the Whole Person

Yoga for a condition is often taught as a list: these poses for back pain, that breath for anxiety. Lists can be a useful starting point, but they cannot account for every body, every breath, or the life a person returns to when they leave the mat.

This course teaches you to look first and offer second. You learn to observe the rhythm of the breath before choosing a practice, to notice whether energy feels tense, scattered, or grounded, and to consider emotional experience and daily rhythm alongside physical patterns. You also learn the red flags that signal when someone needs medical assessment before any practice is offered, such as changes in bladder or bowel function, major loss of strength, or loss of sensation.

This gives you something more valuable than a set of prescribed sequences: the ability to adapt your care to the person in front of you, whether you are practising alone, teaching a group, or working one to one.

“Anxiety is a state of not being at ease. The breath is where ease begins to return.“

Design therapeutic sequences that combine breath, movement, meditation, and observation.

What many practitioners miss is that a condition is never only where it hurts. Two people with the same diagnosis can carry it through very different breath patterns, emotions, and daily rhythms. The skill is not memorising one sequence per condition. It is learning to see the person clearly enough that the right practice, and the right pace, becomes visible.

A word for the hesitant

You Do Not Need a Clinical Background

The course begins with the breath, because the breath is available to everyone. Anatomy and physiology are explained in clear, practical language, and the guided classes are gentle, supported, and adaptable. Nothing asks you to push, perform, or force your body toward a shape.

FIVE CONDITION LESSONS. THREE YOGA CLASSES. EIGHT LESSONS.

The Complete 8-Lesson Curriculum

The journey moves from understanding into embodiment. Five lessons each explore one lifestyle condition through the body, breath, energy, mind, and daily rhythm. Then three carefully designed yoga classes bring those principles into your own breath and body, to help ease depression, calm anxiety, and rejuvenate your nervous system. Open each lesson to explore what is inside.

Anxiety is explored as more than a mental condition: a disturbance in rest, breath, energy, and inner ease. Through the five bodies, the five pranas (the five movements of life energy), and first chakra (energy centre) safety, you learn why the breath sits at its heart.

Inside this lesson

  • Anxiety understood as a state in which the person is not at ease
  • The energy body, its five pranas, and its seven chakras
  • How longer exhalation and full-torso breathing restore steadiness

Arthritis is introduced as inflammation in the joints, in yogic language excess sun and not enough moon. You explore how pain touches all five bodies, and how breath, cooling energy, and steadiness shape a more compassionate approach.

Inside this lesson

  • Linking physical pain with energetic tension, stress, anxiety, and excess heat
  • Assessing the rhythm of the breath before choosing a practice
  • Equal breathing and slower breath to cultivate a cooling presence

The lower back is approached as a support system reflecting both structure and emotion. You explore the lumbar spine and sacrum alongside the first and second chakras, and learn to assess posture and breath with care.

Inside this lesson

  • The first chakra’s link with survival and stability, the second with emotional contraction
  • Guiding the breath into the lower belly, side ribs, and diaphragm
  • Red flags that call for medical assessment before any practice is offered

Diabetes is explored as a metabolic lifestyle disorder, with clear introductions to metabolism, insulin, blood sugar, and the pancreas. You learn to see metabolic health through nourishment, movement, stress response, and consistency.

Inside this lesson

  • Metabolism as both a breaking-down and a building-up process
  • How irregular food timing can disturb the body’s biological rhythm
  • How stress affects metabolic processes and can exhaust the body

Menstrual disorders are explored as disturbances in the cycle, including irregularity, excess or absent bleeding, and premenstrual tension. You learn how hormones, diet, activity, and stress interact, and how gentle practice can support menstrual health through the whole system.

Inside this lesson

  • Working with muscles, mind, and breath toward system-wide harmony
  • Gentle movement to support comfort during the menstrual phase
  • Why inversions and strong core or pelvic contraction are avoided during menstruation
Lessons 06 to 08

The Three Guided Yoga Classes

Carefully designed to help ease depression, calm anxiety, and rejuvenate your nervous system.

The first class meets tension where it so often begins, in the breath. Deep guides you through supported sitting, a longer exhalation, and comfortable pauses, so the body can begin to let go without force, through a loving, attentive relationship with the breath rather than an effort to control it.

Inside this lesson

  • Supporting the hips to free natural abdominal breathing
  • Lengthening the exhalation gently, without force
  • Awareness at the belly and heart to bring attention home to the body

The breath moves into movement, with attention on the abdomen, hips, and spine. Through supportive floor movements, side bending, twisting, and gentle shaking, you practise movement as a way of listening to the body rather than demanding something from it, noticing where effort and tension quietly gather.

Inside this lesson

  • Gentle cycling movements to bring awareness into the abdomen and hips
  • Forward, backward, lateral, and twisting movements of the spine
  • Bent knees, props, and the breath as guides away from excess effort

The final class brings the course into integration through breath, natural laughter, and stillness. Deep invites you to notice what he calls “the dance of the breath”, and to find presence and lightness already within you rather than searching elsewhere.

Inside this lesson

  • Natural laughter as a felt experience of lightness
  • Comfortable pauses after both inhalation and exhalation
  • Following the breath from the nostrils toward the belly and outward again

THE TEACHERS BEHIND THIS COURSE

Meet Your Teachers

Every teacher at Yoga New Vision is here because they have something real to transmit. They guide not as distant gurus, but as compassionate mentors and friends, sharing yoga not just as a practice, but as a way of being.

Hatha Yoga vs Power Yoga A Yoga Teacher's Honest Guide to Choosing Your Practice

Founder and Lead Teacher, Yoga New Vision

Deep Kumar

In this course: yogic frameworks and embodied practice

Deep Kumar came to yoga not as a career, but as a calling. Born and raised in India, he trained in some of the most prestigious academies in the country before spending two decades founding schools, teaching thousands of students, and quietly refining what he believed yoga could truly be.

Yoga New Vision is his fourth school, and his most personal. It is the one he built when he finally had the clarity to offer yoga in its purest, most embodied form.

In the shala, Deep is unlike most teachers you have encountered. He carries the curiosity of a scientist and the warmth of a dear friend. He teaches with laughter, with precision, and with a genuine delight in watching something unlock in you. Many call him the laughter yogi, and when you experience a session with him, you will understand why.

His philosophy is beautifully simple: understand your body, understand your mind, and in that understanding, you are already transformed.

Amiro Maitri

In this course: practical posture application

Amiro Maitri, also known as Dianna, is an E-RYT200 Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher from London and a long-time student of Deep Kumar, studying closely with him from 2015 to 2017.

Her teaching journey began by assisting Deep in his trainings, gradually contributing to yoga teacher training programs in India, Bali, and online. Through years of study and practice, Amiro developed a deep interest in physio-therapeutic yoga, precise alignment, and the biomechanics of the human body. This interest led her to study with Anurag ji, where she continued to refine her understanding of anatomy, movement, and therapeutic application.

Amiro has worked with students navigating Multiple Sclerosis, depression and anxiety, joint and muscle injuries, and scoliosis. Her classes bring together clarity, sensitivity, and a loving presence that helps students feel supported in their own bodies.

In this course, Amiro guides the practical application of posture, bringing clarity, softness, and embodied care to how each practice is shaped for the body in front of you. Students often leave her presence feeling light, fresh, and quietly blissful.

Anurag Acharya therapeutic yoga and anatomy master teacher at Yoga New Vision Bali

Yoga Therapy Lead · Master of Physical Therapy

Anurag Acharya

In this course: clinical anatomy and physical therapy insight

Anurag Acharya is rare. He holds a Master of Physical Therapy in orthopaedic medicine, is a certified manual therapist from the Manual Therapy Foundation of India, and is certified in osteopathic and chiropractic techniques.

He also grew up in a family where yoga was a way of life. His father was a yoga teacher, and practice began for Anurag long before any formal qualification. That dual foundation shapes everything he teaches. Anurag does not hold clinical knowledge and yogic knowledge as two separate things. For him they were always the same thing, expressed in different languages.

He has a deep understanding of human anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology and has spent years correlating modern science with ancient yogic tradition. He promotes evidence-based yoga practice by combining biomechanics and kinesiology with genuine yogic depth. He currently practises as a consultant physiotherapist at Yuvaan Wellness Centre in India and has taught yoga anatomy across Yoga Alliance 200-hour and 300-hour teacher training programs.

His way of teaching anatomy is clear, functional, practical, and immediately applicable. You will not leave this course with textbook knowledge. You will leave with a new way of seeing.

Ancient wisdom, taught with modern clarity

The School Behind the Course

At Yoga New Vision, we believe wisdom has many voices. The ancient teachings of Indian yoga speak to the soul. Modern science speaks to the body. Eastern philosophy maps the inner landscape. Western psychology and research give language to what we feel, live, and pass on. When all of these are honoured fully, something beautiful happens, not a compromise, but a coming home.

This is the heart of our YNV Method: a holistic yoga teacher training approach where Eastern wisdom meets Western science, where ancient philosophy meets modern psychology, and where timeless practice is illuminated by today’s research. We hold every tradition with equal reverence, drawing on the discoveries of three extraordinary scientists to deepen what yoga has always known.

Fifteen thousand students since 2009, in more than fifty countries, and five stars across Google, Yoga Alliance and Facebook. What moves us is not the number. It is the note that arrives from someone practising alone in a living room on the other side of the world, who has just understood a pose they have been doing for ten years.

Frequently Asked Questions

The course is described with its scope and limitations in full, because clear expectations are part of a learning space built on trust.

The Course and Its Purpose

It is a self-paced online yoga therapy course from Yoga New Vision. Across eight lessons, it explores six lifestyle-related conditions: anxiety, depression, arthritis, lower back pain, diabetes, and menstrual disorders. Five lessons explore the conditions, and three carefully designed yoga classes help ease depression, calm anxiety, and rejuvenate your nervous system. It brings yogic frameworks such as the five bodies together with clinical anatomy and physical therapy insight, and carries a 20-hour YACEP certificate.

No. It is designed for yoga teachers, dedicated practitioners, and wellness practitioners. Teachers can support students with more confidence and sensitivity, and Registered Yoga Teachers can count the certificate toward their continuing education. Practitioners can use it to understand their own patterns more clearly. It does not qualify a new teacher or a yoga therapist.

No. Anatomy and physiology, including metabolism, insulin, and the structure of the lower back, are explained in clear, practical language. Anurag Acharya brings the clinical perspective, so you can learn from it without needing a clinical background of your own.

Studying and Access

Self-paced. There are no live sessions, cohort dates, or required attendance times. You can begin after enrollment and move through the lessons on your own schedule.

You receive lifetime course access through your course account, so you can return to a single condition before guiding a student, or repeat the full journey whenever you need it.

A mat, a blanket or cushion to support your hips in sitting, and a quiet space. Props such as blocks or a bolster add comfort, particularly in the floor movement class, but you can begin without them.

Safety, Scope, and Certification

Yes. After completing all eight lessons and 20 hours of personal practice, you can receive a 20-hour continuing education certificate issued through Yoga New Vision’s Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) offering. It recognises continuing education only and is not a teaching qualification.

No. The YACEP certificate recognises continuing education only, and becoming a yoga therapist requires much longer, supervised training. This course gives you a whole-person foundation for working more thoughtfully with lifestyle-related conditions, and a meaningful first step if you later choose deeper therapeutic study.

No. The course does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, or provide individual therapy. If you live with any of the conditions explored, including depression or anxiety, or support someone who does, yoga should complement the care of a qualified medical or mental health professional, never replace it.

The guided classes are gentle, supported, and adaptable, and they emphasise breath and comfortable movement rather than effort. Even so, please speak with your doctor before beginning a new practice, particularly with depression, diabetes, a recent injury or surgery, or ongoing pain. Stop any practice that causes sharp pain, dizziness, or unusual symptoms.

Investment and Enrollment

The investment is $79 USD, which includes all eight lessons, lifetime access, and eligibility for the 20-hour YACEP certificate.

Yes. A 14-day refund window applies from enrollment, subject to the final published terms, which will set out the request method and any eligibility conditions before the page goes live.

At any time. Once enrollment is complete and you receive access to the course platform, you can begin with Lesson 1. There is no fixed cohort or start date.
